This is my weblog and I am Gyurka. Despite my Hungarian first name, I’m born and raised in the Netherlands and indeed, still living there as well. (In the city of Rotterdam, if you’d like to know.)

I am a Sociology student at the Erasmus university in Rotterdam (studying online research methodologies amongst others) and I work as a “User Experience Specialist” on web related stuff for a sample provider in the Market Research industry.  Writing and talking about about Social Media, Online Communities and Internet in general is part of my freelance work. This concerns online technologies, social structures, ”web 2.0′ (or rather; what web 2.0 is not) and their characteristics in particular.

Besides my study and work I have an interest in writing, drawing and painting as well as (metal) music and it’s culture. I’ve written articles for several, mostly “fun” orientated, weblogs in the past and was once described by a Dutch Computer magazine as a “hardcore commenter”. Needless to say you can find me surfing the internet quite often and my Sociology and Computer Science studies drive me to have a keen interest in anything that some of you would like to call “Web 2.0″. Currently I’m a blogger for the Dutch marketing weblog “bijgespijkerd“, where I try to keep the Dutch marketeers up to date about any new and interesting “social” or research related online developments. I’m also tinkering on and writing for the new “opinionated blog” deJaap, that has been launched in October 2009.
